"As a young Ugandan climate change activist, I often have
limited access to resources that provide the lessons and guidance needed to
effectively embark on my journey to create meaningful change. FunDoo’s GreenPal
Task 3 on “What can I do about it? The Power of Your Voice” gave me the
direction I needed to shape my ideas and understand how best I could use my
voice to create real impact.
I did not limit the lessons to speaking about climate change
alone. Instead, I expanded them to address broader social issues affecting my
country. Using the advice from Greenpal, I started posting short, informative
videos on my TikTok and Instagram platforms aimed at my peers, where I discuss
environmental challenges alongside other important social issues.
In addition, I am actively involved in youth dialogues on
climate change, where we discuss how younger generations can contribute
positively to addressing the climate crisis. Beyond discussions, I am also
taking practical steps in my daily life. For example, I try to use electric
motorbikes when possible, choose paper bags instead of polythene bags, and
reuse reinforced plastic bags to reduce waste.
I also participate in community clean-up activities to
ensure that my activism is not limited to words alone. Every step I take is
guided by the goal of being a role model for my peers and demonstrating that
young people can take meaningful action to protect our environment.
Thank you, Greenpal, for empowering me to use my voice to make a difference".
